Cecile Blanchet studied marine geology at the University of Perpignan and Aix-Marseille (France). She holds a PhD in paleoclimate and paleomagnetism from the Aix-Marseille University obtained in 2006.

She was employed in 2006-2008 as a post-doctoral fellow in the Graduate College EUROPROX at the University of Bremen, where she managed a group of international PhD students. She then run her own research project funded by the DFG until 2013, in which she studied the relationships between changes in climate, environment and human populations in the Green Sahara (early Holocene), working between the GEOMAR (Kiel, Germany) and the NIOZ (Texel, The Netherlands).

In 2014, Cecile took a career switch towards renewable energies and studied project management in wind energy at the Proventus Energie Academy in Berlin. She was hired at GCF in October 2015 to administrate the GREEN-WIN project.
