A fresh journal to enhance the knowledge required for responsible action in the global economy
The DIVA model is an integrated, global model of coastal systems that assesses biophysical and socio-economic consequences of sea-level rise and socio-economic development taking into account coastal erosion (both direct and indirect), coastal flooding (including rivers), wetland change and salinity intrusion into deltas and estuaries as well as adaptation in terms of raising dikes and nourishing beaches.
The first version of the DIVA model was developed as part of the DIVA Tool in the EC-funded project DINAS-COAST (Dynamic and Interactive Assessment of National, Regional and Global Vulnerability of Coastal Zones to Climate Change and Sea-Level Rise).
The DIVA Tool is currently not available for download due to a lack of resources for maintaining and supporting the software. The DIVA Model, the computational kernel of the DIVA Tool, is being further developed, but without a continuous funding base and without a graphical user interface. The release of new versions of the DIVA Tool with a graphical user interface is contingent on the availability of future funding.
