The vision of establishing a capacity center within the Global Climate Forum was born during the 2009 GCF annual convention in Venice. The driving idea of the GCF’s capacity center is to intensify and broaden the stakeholder dialogue on all facets of climate change by communicating the output from GCF’s core activities on a broader basis and thereby helping stakeholders to engage in sustainable development paths.
The mission of the GCF Capacity Center goes far beyond designing and coordinating training activities related to existing knowledge in the field of climate change. The reason is that the world is currently experiencing a tremendous change process. We know what the outcome must be, namely a decarbonized environment; however we are far from knowing all the answers to get there.
Against this background, the Global Climate Forum wants to support stakeholders in adapting to changing needs by developing activities around the three main aspects of capacity building under the lead of the GCF Capacity Center:
Activities under the GCF Capacity Center are coordinated by Sebastian Gallehr and Katja Mayer.
